This is a project from my second Graphic Design class. This project was an exploration of typography, shapes, and lines. Given the quote, “The details are not the details. They make the design,” I placed each letter in its own square within a grid. After placing each angle at a 45 degree rotation, I was able to scale each letter and position it differently within the square to create a sense of mass and movement. I went through this process in both serif and sans serif typefaces. Then, I added color to the grids in a further exploration of color theory and in order to see the ways the design changed when three colors were used instead of two. The last component of this project was to print out the grids and put them onto cubes, transferring the 2D design onto a 3D object.
