Typography I

Fall 2018

This project from my Typography class was to create a calendar for 2019 in any way we wanted. I took this opportunity to use the laser cutter to engrave cardboard to create standing desktop calendars. In creating prototypes, I became interested in the way that the wavy middle layer of cardboard added depth and texture once the first layer of cardboard was removed. I designed this calendar to highlight the beauty of a simple piece of cardboard. Each month has a different typeface and the holidays are bolded. Each month is an individual piece of cardboard and arrives folded flat in a 9x9x9 box. The customer can then fold out the flap on the back to stand on its own, allowing them to put each month up on their desk as needed.
